Why I Might Be Busy the Next Few Weeks

This is our dog, Aspen.
Aspen is a 13 year old Westie... our very first "kid".  She's a sweetheart, but she's gotten slow and lazy in her old age.  A great lap dog.

Unfortunately my kids aren't as thrilled.  She doesn't play with toys, won't wrestle, can only take so much harsh petting, and won't fetch anything.  But a great lap dog.

My kids don't want a lap dog (but Mommy LOVES it).

The kids have been dying for a new dog for years, but we've always said we were a one-dog-family.  Besides, who does the majority of caring?  Me (and Daddy).

Back in October, though, we moved into a new home.  A new home surrounded by big dogs.  We have five acres of land here... much of it is wooded, but still a lot of yard, too.  We have a lab and a Boston Terrier on one side;  an Airedale mix and a German Shepherd on the other side;  Ridgebacks, Labs, Spaniels, Terriers and more just up the street;  Collies and Border Collies down the street....

It was time to consider another dog... a bigger, playful dog.  We've been watching the Rescue leagues around here, keeping an eye out for that "perfect puppy".  We found her.

Enter... Lucy.

She's a Golden Retriever/Lab mix.  So cute!  She's 10 weeks old and just the perfect family dog for us.

We brought her home yesterday.  So cute!  The perfect doggy... well, except for the piddling on the hardwood and pooping on the back door mat.... all the time.  Oh... and the endless howling after being crated for the night.  I slept 3 hours last night, while the rest of the family slept through it all.  Ugh.

Well, at least she's cute.

Today... well, you may know me well enough by now... I had to go buy her a doggy bed.  My husband said, "I want one like LLBean's... or something like that."

Um... okay....

LLBean style, eh?

I like LLBean.  For shoes and outerwear...

....

Um, okay....

....

....

I, uh, found one, dear.

Hee, hee, hee.... it's SO me.

Oh, I bought two others for Aspen (and our bedroom) that are more like LLBean styles (no canvas... plush in a simple solid off-white), in case dear hubby clearly objects to the above bed.  But, he's out for the day.  It could be that Lucy just takes a liking to "my" dog bed by then.

:)
